First time cultural programmes will be presented and announcements will be made in five regional languages-Maithili, Bhojpuri, Angika, Vajjika and Magahi on National Education Day

PATNA: The state human resources department (HRD) is all set to celebrate the National Education Day on November 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, an eminent educationist and Independent India’s first education minister. “As education minister, Azad oversaw the establishment of a national education system with free primary education and modern institutions of higher education. Bihar, in fact, became the first state in the country to initiate a move to celebrate Education Day in his memory in 2007. Later, in 2008, government of India also decided to observe November 11 as National Education Day,” said HRD principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh. Though the beginning was modest, the HRD later organized the event in a big way in 2008. It will be likewise this year too.
