PATNA: Anga Utthan Andolan Samiti national president Gautam Suman on Sunday called off his indefinite fast to press the four-point demands of the Samiti, including development of Angika language. Health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey offered a glass of juice to Suman to break his fast. Suman was on fast-unto-death agitation at R-Block since Tuesday last.

Addressing the gathering, Choubey said that he has been working on this issue since 1995. The minister said that he would hold parleys with chief minister Nitish Kumar so that an effective step is initiated in this direction.

Earlier, Congress legislature party (CLP) leader in the state assembly Sadanand Singh had on Friday urged Nitish to initiate steps for protection of Angika, the language of the people of ancient Anga Janapada. He had also requested the CM to give concrete assurance to Suman.
